Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2006 Vintage) says
Good wine. When you smell it there's a prettiness to the aroma, and a good introduction like that never goes astray. Violets, mulberries, blackcurrant and some chocolatey notes too. Buy a bottle and tell us that we're wrong. It comes across as tasty and intense, with dry, rugged tannins and good persistence. It needs a year or two to soften, but it's well put together.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Dense colour; a very powerful and tight wine, still quite austere, with earthy notes to the well of black fruits, the softening influence of merlot nowhere to be seen yet.
Australian Wine Companion 2009 2008
James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Deeply coloured; richly robed and layered blackcurrant fruit, with touches of cedar and mocha; ripe tannins. Trophy Ballarat Wine Show '06
