Wolf Blass Red Label Australian Tawny

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Australia is spoilt for choice with value fortifieds, and this is quite a rich, sweet style. Dried fruits, toffee apples, chocolaty oak and nutty smells rise from the glass, whilst the palate is unctuous and sweetish, with fruitcake and toffee flavours punching through, soft tannins, a touch of twangy acidity, and a soft, sweet finish. Great with a chocolate brownie.

Winemaker's Notes

Brandy Spirit was added to the wine to stop fermentation and retain residual sweetness. The wine received lengthy maturation in large, old oak barrels. This process does not give the wine oak characters but gives the wine mellowness and classic fortified characters.

Colour - This richly flavoured Reserve Tawny is burnished amber in colour.

Nose - Complex aromas of dried orchard fruits with hints of maple meld with dried raisins.

Palate - This wine is rich and luscious with concentrated sweet fruit flavours filling the middle palate that flows onto a dry, mature brandy spirit finish.
