Wooing Tree Beetle Juice Pinot Noir

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Ripe hand picked fruit, gentle winemaking and maturation in French oak have resulted in a very approachable and rich wine, with aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries and Black Doris plums, a rich and silky smooth palate with fine grainy tannins to match the fruit. Excellent value, drinking fantastically well now and will develop and cellar for several years.

Nick Stock (2011 Vintage) says
This is a very spicy and brambly style in 2011, showing intense pepper and Eastern spices, szechuan and star anise, and red cherries tucked below. The palate s quite ripe and swarthy, packed with plenty of deep-sheeted tannins and a toasty, rolling finish.

This has plenty of the ripe dark and red cherries that this prime Central Otago vineuard manages to reliably capture, and plenty of rich dark-cherry and redder fruits too. Fine flowing tannins and some dark chocolate chime in to close. Full of flavour.

From the heart of Cromwell, this shows plenty of boot-polish oak character and ripe fruit - plums, dark cherries - and a meaty edge, some Christmas spice and a decent swathe of oak. Nice depth and complexity - very composed. The palate moves through cherry-cola and red-fruit flavours, carried on fine, web-like tannins - nicely structured, balanced and even. Bright acid through the back.

Quite the easygoing style of pinot noir, this has a good serve of ripe dark cherry and a nice layer of regional mountain herbs, which really speaks to its Central Otago origins. The palate's brightly lit, with lively acidity and meek tannins, allowing a supple cherry and strawberry flavour to take Ð and hold Ð the centre stage.

Rich, single-vineyard red from Cromwell, in Central Otago. Full-coloured, with strong cherry, plum and herb flavours, showing good, savoury complexity. Bold and chewy.

Michael Cooper (2007 Vintage) says
This single-vineyard, Cromwell red is deeply coloured, mouthfilling and fruit-crammed, with loads of cherryish, plummy flavour, still very fresh and vibrant. Showing excellent ripeness and depth.

Juicy, tangy style with excellent fruit richness, perfect balance, spicy/minty characters and plenty of oak. 3-5
