Woollaston Estates Pinot Noir

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

A luminous wine. The nose floral and perfumed. The palate takes its direction from clay bound gravels - exceptionally fleshy, sappy berries dance across the tongue and fine stylish tannins to finish. The compact structure captures the picture of the temperate 2011 harvest perfectly.

Winemaker's Notes

This is mainly Able clone sourced off the Mahana block, where the majority of Woollaston’s Pinot Noir is planted. Able tends to give more savoury structured Pinots and this is no exception. Evolved plum and red fruits with smoky and earthy notes. Attractive lifted florals. Shows some of its 12% new oak. Medium bodied, sweet and silky to start then the grainy but ripe tannins build into a fairly solid structure. Broad and expansive on the finish the concentration is evident in flavours reaching all the way down the back of the throat.
