From arguably the most forward looking Riesling maker in Australia, this complex, worked style of Riesling spent time in oak and on lees where it developed a level of textural richness that is otherwise unseen in Australian Riesling. Supremely clever and interesting white wine.

Winemaker's Notes

Riesling is afforded a great deal of respect as a grape, and generally the winemaking influence is minimal to preserve the aromatics of the variety. Artisan Riesling is the antithesis of this theory. The intent is for the winemaking to interact with the precision of Riesling’s acidity and flavour to add complexity and most importantly texture without overpowering the delicate fruit.

This Riesling is cut from a different cloth, a mixture of classic citrus, talcum powder and red apple, with nuances of smoky oak and camembert cheese.

A bone dry, savoury palate of citrus marmalade, lime rind and lemon acid, with a creamy mid palate of piquant aged cheddar cheese, followed by a mouth-watering brace of acid to finish.

This is a really interesting interpretation of riesling having been fermented in oak. It's a departure from the classically fine and pure style of riesling with a more textural palate. The palate retains its deeply intense flavour. The nose has a slightly smoky character complementing the lifted spicy aromatic. Nice floral characters with a lingering finish. Excellent alternative wine style.
