Crisp, clean semillon dominant, but with some sweeter gooseberry notes.

This blend of 70 per cent semillon and 30 per cent sauvignon blanc has a dominant portion (54 per cent) from Margaret River and a cool tranche from the Great Southern (26 per cent). You may need to give it a swirl to open it up but you'll be rewarded by some attractive grassy aromatics. It is fresh and vibrant with intensely grassy flavours and a crisp, fine finish.

I have promised this year to make no reference to Olivia Newton John, roller skates or Cliff Richard in this reviewÑso I won't. What I will say is that this wine is fresh as the smile on Cliff's face whenever Sue Barker comes over for a prawn cocktail. What does that mean? Heaven only knows but this zesty, grassy, delicate little wine will keep you smiling through the confusion.

This is less obviously aromatic - less of those grassy, passionfruity characters - than the other two bloody good wines here. But it has a good, flowery aroma and lovely depth of fruit flavour in the mouth. As the wine is sealed with a screw top, those flavours may be taking a while to appear, but we suspect they will emerge in a few months. We also suspect that this fullness and weight would make it a great accompaniment to a robust fish curry or pan-fried swordfish or other meaty fish fillets -maybe with a herb sauce like pesto or salsa verde. Yum.
