Yarra Yering Carrodus Viognier

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Glowing yellow-green; the flagship of the winery, made from a unique clone of viognier rising 40 years old. It has achieved the ever-so-difficult balance between positive varietal character (peach and apricot) and controlled phenolics on the finish. Will not appeal to all palates.

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Magically balances its inherently luscious fruit (viognier is often overwhelming) with a mineral edge, and phenolics that normally detract are here welded into the whole; musk, creme brulee and honeysuckle flit across the backdrop. 65 dozen made.

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Glowing yellow-green; a viognier that resolves the dilemma about varietal flavour and phenolics, achieving the former and avoiding the latter; has soaked up the oak in which it was fermented and matured; good length and balance.
