YarraLoch Stephanie's Dream Heathcote Shiraz

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Heavenly Heathcote. It’s got a nice ring to it and the Shiraz from this hallowed region is distinctive and laden with character. Prepare yourself for an elegant, complex and concentrated wine that really needs to be served with food. It’s perfumed with plum and dark chocolate as well as intriguing savoury characters. The mouthfeel is rich and textured with smart acids and smooth tannins.

Winemaker's Notes

Made from low cropped fully ripe Heathcote shiraz, this wine is very complex with concentrated ripe plums, dark chocolate, savoury meaty characters and integrated smoky oak on the nose. A rich velvety mid-palate texture gives way to tingling acidity and soft but persistent tannin.

Food Suggestions: Ideal to serve with the finest rare roasted and peppered joint of beef.

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Good hue; an elegant, light- to medium-bodied wine (notwithstanding its alcohol) that is part of a new face for Heathcote; superfine tannins underpin the black cherry and plum fruit and extending the length.

Nick Stock (2008 Vintage) says
A ripe and sweetly fragrant Heathcote shiraz - a reserve of sorts, with plenty of style and poise. Aromas of blue fruits, dark cherries and sweet purple flowers rise evenly and graciously - this really entices. The palate has deep plum and chocolate flavours, with ripe tannins and a savoury brooding length. Walks the edge of ripeness, so best drunk young whilst composed.

Strong red-purple; a wine still with the exuberance of youth, yet beautifully balanced and textured; the full array of black fruits have spice and oak lurking in the background; great drive and length.

Seductively smooth and supple, with layers of red cherry, plum and blackberry fruit; harmonious oak and tannins
