Expert Reviews

Jeremy Oliver (2012 Vintage) says
Lean and rather reserved, with a heady, spicy bouquet of dark, ripe cherries and berries lifted by smoky, oaky and floral notes and backed by suggestions of charcuterie meats and dried herbs. Rather tight and yet to flesh out, it delivers a pure, intense and brightly lit line of cherry/berry/plum flavour tightly wound around a gentle, slightly sappy spine and wrapped in a youthful edgy acidity.

This is certainly a dream of a pinot (from a great vintage). Dense and succulent, with intense sweet-fruit aromas and flavours, smoky spices and a touch of funk. Smooth tannins, good line and structure, marvellous balance and length.

Light crystal-clear crimson-purple; a super-fragant red berry/cherry bouquet leads into a palate with strong spicy savoury tannins; needs time, so leave it alone until you've finished the standard Yarra Valley wine.

While sharing many of the flavours and aromas of the standard wine, this has significantly greater focus, intensity and length; the flavours drive through the palate and aftertaste with rare elan.
