Expert Reviews

Jeremy Oliver (2011 Vintage) says
A charming, shorter-term cabernet blend whose delicate, lightly floral perfume of red berries, cherries and cedar/vanilla oak reveals a hint of red earth. It's fine-grained and elegant, medium in weight, with a gentle presence of cassis, mulberries, dark cherries and plums underpinned by dusty herbal edges and fine, polished tannins, that steadily build towards the finish.

Tyson Stelzer (2010 Vintage) says
2010 is an exceptional season for Yeringberg’s cabernet blend, presenting impeccably ripe fruit of immaculate blackcurrant refinement and fragrant violet lift, wrapped intricately in high cocoa dark chocolate and vibrant acidity. Its tannin framework is nothing less than profound, perfectly gauged to provide mouthfilling presence and confident control, yet at every moment integrated, finely textured, even silky, lingering with unremitting line and persistence.
Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
This mid-weight cabernet blend has a little meaty and oaky, mocha edge here, lovely mulberry and light cassis, fine spice and a layer of fragrant, bright fruit. The palate s quite firm for now, really young and taut; acidity holds it tight, tannins are sturdy but fine in texture, and flavours of cassis and plum roll the full distance. Needs time to unfurl.

A regional benchmark, with a deep, alluring bouquet of sweet red and blue flowers, cassis, dark plums and mulberries knit with dusty, cedar/vanilla oak and backed by nuances of dried herbs and cherry kernel. Long and supple, it's gentle and fine-grained, with a deeply flavoured, layered presence of dark fruit deftly integrated with newish oak and elegant, fine-grained tannins. Perfectly ripened, evenly measured and restrained, it's a long-term classic

James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
The full Bordeaux blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, malbec and petit verdot; a quite lovely display of black and redcurrant fruit supported by silky tannins and quality oak; it has achieved all this with only 13% alc., and the wine will live for decades.

The same style runs through this cabernet blend with fresh, bright ripe fruit, generous but not stewed, with medium-bodied bright tannins in a refined style. A national treasure.

Good purple-crimson; a medium- to full-bodied wine, with substantial tannins framing the vibrant display of predominantly black fruits; a wine with a pedigree that demands patience. Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc/ Merlot/Malbec/Petit Verdot.

Jeremy Oliver (2006 Vintage) says
Very polished and stylish, this surprisingly assertive young cabernet blend reveals a vibrant floral perfume of small red and black berries, dark cherries, iris, violets and sweet cedar/vanilla oak. Its finely crafted palate of pristine fruit and tight-grained oak builds in strength and texture, culminating in a firm drying finish of intense lingering dark cherry/berry flavour and faint undertones of dried herbs.

A smooth, sumptuous and seamless Yarra Valley cabernet blend that appears to handle with ease its comparatively high level of 14.5% alcohol. With a sweet, pristinefragrance of violets and small berries, it's firm and finely balanced. Deep, dark berry/cherry and plum-like fruit knits tightly with sweet vanilla, cedary and dark chocolate oak, while it's underpinned by fine-grained and supple tannin.

A clean, pure, classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon/ Cabernet Franc/Merlot/Malbec; a beautiful mix of blackcurrant and cassis fruit, with fine, ripe tannins and classy oak
Australian Wine Companion 2008 2007
Jeremy Oliver (2004 Vintage) says
A violet like perfume of fresh blackberries, rasp berries and sweet cedar/vanilla oak reveals a slightly meaty complexity. Smooth supple and vibrant, its elegant but quite succulent and juicy palate of plums and dark cherries mulberries and cassis is framed by supple and powdery tannins. There's just a hint of under and over-ripeness with herbal undertones and some suggestions of jamminess, but this finely crafted wine has plenty to offer.
