Yeringberg Young Vines Shiraz

Expert Reviews

Jeremy Oliver (2006 Vintage) says
Fragrant and floral, with an exotic, ethereal perfume of sweet black and red berries, cassis and ripe plums backed by nuances of cinnamon, cloves and ginger. Medium bodied, it's smooth and elegant, with rich varietal flavours backed by meaty, savoury northern Rhone-like influences and a polished, fine-grained undercarriage. Very complex and perfumed, perhaps lifted by a dash of roussanne?

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
supple, smooth, silky palate, with flavours of cherry and plum predominant; fine but persistent tannins. The 4th vintage from vines around 7 years old. How Guill de Pury must be regretting the decision to remove the original shiraz (planted in the 1960s)

Angus Hughson (2004 Vintage) says
Yeringberg are best known for their Cabernet but this young vine Shiraz is bloody brilliant value for money. Perfumed with spicy blackberry almost meaty fruit laced with lavender and other floral notes, it has superb interest and personality for a wine of this price and will improve over the next 5 years in the cellar
James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Spicy blackberry aromas; afresh, savoury palate; notwithstanding the alcohol, has some greenish notes. From new Yeringberg plantings, with a distinctly downplayed label.
