One of the first commercial wineries in the region, Heathcote Winery was established in 1978. The winery was purchased in 1997 by a group of independent wine enthusiasts where wines reflective of Heathcote region became the focus. The winemaking team comprises winemaker Rachel Brooker and vineyard manager Brett Winslow.
Heathcote Location
As the name suggests, this winery is located in the Heathcote vineyard region of Victoria, and owns two vineyard sites within the GI. Newlans Lane Vineyard and Slaughter House Paddock make up 18 hectares of land under vine. Newlans Lane is planted to multiple varieties, Slaughter House to just Shiraz.
Heathcote Wine Types
Shiraz is king for Heathcote Winery but other Rhone varieties are grown and produced. Marsanne and Viognier feature while Chardonnay and Verdelho also have a presence.
Heathcote Brands
The Heathcote winery produces four tiers of wine – Cravens Place, Mail Coach, Curagee Shiraz and Slaughterhouse Paddock Shiraz, the latter being the marquee wines for the producer.
Heathcote Winery
The wines are made with technical competence and an adherence to new world winemaking technique. New oak and modern winemaking combine to make vibrant and concentrated wine examples.

The Mail Coach delivers once again with bottle age treating this wine kindly. Fully developed now it shows plenty of attractive earthy spicy flavours, with a twist of eucalyptus on a dry dark fruited palate. Tasty easy drinking Heathcote Shiraz.
