The Black Chook is the coming together of Penny’s Hill ‘boys’ Ben Riggs and Tony Parkinson. This very Australian, outback inspired label shows off the marketing skills of advertising guru Tony, who also has fun with The Black Chook’s sibling label Woop Woop.
The Wines
The fruit for The Black Chook is sourced from two South Australian wine regions, McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek. Ben Riggs makes wines that are flavoursome and affordable using grape varietals such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Viognier, Grenache and Shiraz. The wines are mostly table wines, however, he does produce a rather fruity sparkling Shiraz.
