Chrismont delves deep into its Italian roots and the terroir of the King Valley in Victoria. They produce wines not only from traditional grape varietals, such as Riesling, Chardonnay and Shiraz, but also Italian natives like Arneis, Barbera and Sangiovese. Establised in 1980 by wine industry identities Jo and Arnie Pizzini, they source fruit from 80 hectares of vines planted predominantly in the Whitfield area of the King Valley to make these distinct wines that are just a little bit left of centre.
The Wines
Winemaker Warren Proft has the interesting job of making wines with a unique expression from the Italian and traditional varietals. The wine styles are all fruit-driven and food friendly with the whites tending to be fresh and zesty, and the reds savoury and satisfying.
